The Good Earth | Undiscovered Lebanon

“Solitude is a silent storm that breaks down all our dead branches; yet it sends our living roots deeper into the living heart of the living earth.”

Khalil Gibran

To most travelers and locals, Lebanon is a country of cities, of nightlife and of eating, eating and eating delicious food. In this film, Mark Abouzeid takes us away from the incessant traffic and chaos, introducing us to a softer, quieter country…a painting using the colors of nature.

“Solitude is a silent storm that breaks down all our dead branches; yet it sends our living roots deeper into the living heart of the living earth.” Khalil Gibran

“Inspired by a piano adagio by Roger Subirana Mata, I wanted to paint what I felt while listening and nature seemed the perfect medium. The actual making of this film with the ever-present piano as my own soundtrack filled me with inner peace at each step, even while editing. Each time I play the final film, I feel what Gibran spoke of: the solitude that roots us, connects us.” Mark Abouzeid
